Keeper’s Cottage

The Sumburgh Head Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage is sited within the complex of the lighthouse buildings. The self-catering cottage is deceptively spacious and sleeps up to five guests over two levels.

Thoughtfully decorated throughout, the cottage has been sympathetically restored and retains many original features - with the aim of re-creating a traditional Lighthouse Keepers cottage - with added touches of luxury. The accommodation is equipped to a high standard.

You’ll have breathtaking panoramic sea views and during the summer months you can enjoy incredible sea bird colonies and colourful blooms of wildflowers on your doorstep. It’s also the perfect spot for whale-watching.

An added bonus - during the Sumburgh Head Lighthouse Visitor Centre’s seasonal opening hours you’ll be able to pop across to the Unken Kaffee for fresh coffee and croissants in the morning.

The accommodation at Sumburgh Lighthouse re-opened in 2014 following the redevelopment of the site in a £5.4million improvement project.

The property may be familiar to viewers of BBC1's 'Shetland' series as this was the location of the 'Sumburgh Lighthouse Hotel' in series 3, broadcast in February 2016.
